So why would we expect him to change now? Of course, he’s fighting tooth and nail against new revenue tools for transit expansion. He doesn’t give a shit about transit.

Another ugly truth about the worst mayor in human memory.
If I Admit That 'Hating Men' Is a Thing, Will You Stop Turning It Into a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy?
It is not enough to be neutral and tacitly benefit from inequality while others are left behind through no fault of their own. Anti-sexism, anti-racism, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia—that’s where we’re at now. Catch up or own your prejudice.
Everyone who argues about #misandry with MRAs must read this, now. Via the divine @rachelmack.
In a lot of ways, the Internet and the Web are a lot like Burger King. Sure, some of the stores look different now, and the menu might get a few additions here and there, but you’re still eating the same stuff they’ve served up since 1953. The only difference is that the some unscrupulous marketers came along, dressed things up a bit, and gave some of the products different names so they can charge you gobs of money to learn about stuff you’re either already using or don’t even need. Those marketers are a part of what I like to call “The Asshole Based Economy”.
Truck driver Paul Whitcomb doesn’t like tree-huggers:
He’s leaning Republican, and has a warning for environmentalists who may come to Williston: “People will probably want to tie you to one of the trees you wanna hug.”
Ha-ha-ha! What a kidder! Of course, maybe us regular folks should talk that way about these oil industry parasites. Maybe we’d get more of a hearing for our views if people knew how upset we are about how they’re putting civilization at risk for their own pecuniary self-interest. (I know, I know. Some environmentalists do talk that way already. Only when they say it, it’s not received with a chuckle about the common sense of the salt of the earth. When a greenie talks like that, he or she is condemned for being an unhinged, eco-radical …

Today, our Tea Party of Canada government under Prime Minister Stephen Harper is dedicated to signing “trade agreements” that ensure high-paying Canadian jobs are exported as quickly as possible to more efficient foreign jurisdictions, such as China, the role of public education is well on its way to being outsourced to corporate shills, and the final long weekend of our short Canadian summer is devoted to what might be called the Twenty-four Hour Hate, a day-long frenzy of official and media sponsored loathing for the weakened vestiges of the labour movement.
The Republican Party has set out at its 2012 convention in search of the Event Horizon of utter bullshit. It has sought to see precisely how many lies, evasions, elisions, and undigestible chunks of utter gobbledegook the political media can swallow before it finally gags twice and falls over dead, leaving the rest of America suckers all the same. What you didn’t see in primetime, from Arthur Davis to Ted Cruz, and from one 2016 contender to another, was the GOP embarking upon the task of seeing exactly how much nonsense it could produce at top volume before democracy screams and gives up, like Noriega in Panama when they played the metal music at him.
